The Washington Wizards released an official update outlining the status of forward Markieff Morris.
Morris was diagnosed with transient cervical neuropraxia .According to Sports Med Today it is “a rare but dangerous cervical spine (neck) injury. TQ is usually caused by cervical spinal cord trauma, which can occur after a neck hyperextension or hyperflexion injury with possible axial loading (pressure applied to the top of the head).”
Morris will be limited to non-contact basketball activities for the next six weeks.
He has continued to suffer neck and back stiffness after sustaining a blow to the chin during the chin during the game against the Los Angeles Lakers on December 16. Morris reaggravated the injury during their game against the Pistons on December 26.
Morris is averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 34 , coming off the pine 15 times, games but is averaging the fewest amount of minutes per game (26.0) since he signed with the Wizards.
In Morris’ extended absence, the Wizards will lean more on Trevor Ariza and and Jeff Green.
